Kim S.

STUDIO DIRECTOR

Kim fell in love with a hot yoga practice in 2007 in Montreal, inspired by a basketball injury that led to chronic pain and arthritis of the spine. The practice dramatically shifted her relationship with her body and mind (In a good way of course),  and in 2009 she felt she had no choice, but to do the teacher training and then open Moksha Yoga Vancouver… which has since shifted over now to Havyn Hot Studio. She continues to pour love and care into the studio from Gibsons BC, where she and her young family recently opened a land-based cidery called “Banditry Cider” (yet another community-based business). She is so fired up to be leading the vision of Havyn to allow for more targeted core &  strength-based practices to infuse what is already an amazing full-mind-body experience. She is so grateful for her long-time team members who are so dedicated to making that vision a reality. She is inspired to create one of the most holistic mind-body-soul movement experiences in Vancouver.

Natalia S

GENERAL MANAGER

Natalia was born in Indonesia and has since lived in four different countries. She loves to travel and experience the diverse cultures around the globe. Fun fact – she has a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Clark University (Worcester, Massachusetts); despite her scientific background, yoga still had it’s strongest hold on her….  she discovered hot yoga 16 years ago and It was love at first Savasana! Her desire to teach and practice yoga for the rest of her life led her to do a Power Yoga Teacher Training, become a Pilates instructor, and eventually she even opened her first yoga studio in Los Angeles, California (2013). Fast forward 10 years, Natalia moved to Vancouver to join her hubby, and is ready to bring her enthusiasm, knowledge and mad skills to Havyn. If you don’t see her on her mat, she is most likely with her husband and their fur baby travelling the world, beaching & surfing, or at home watching Baseball with a giant bag of Spicy Dill Pickle chips.

Jeff B.

Teacher / Teacher Lead

Yoga first came into Jeff Boyd’s life as a way to rehabilitate from injuries. Although he was born with a clubbed foot, Jeff was highly active in rugby in his youth, until a ruptured Achilles tendon on the field forced him to slow down and listen to his body. During his recovery process, Jeff found yoga, and soon thereafter began his path towards becoming a teacher. Jeff’s combination of yoga, Pilates, and personal training certifications allows him to bring a unique and holistic perspective to his classes.

Jeff is a teacher who encourages students to find the things needed to support themselves in any given moment of life and of practice, and to stay present in those moments of investigation. Informed by his injuries and his early limitations, Jeff firmly advocates that fitness can and should be accessible to all; he emphasizes the use of approachable language, safe alignment, and an expansive knowledge of anatomy and movement to meet the needs of his students, regardless of their level.

At Havyn classes with Jeff, expect classes that range from exploratory, to grounding, to upbeat and powerful.

AJ C.

Teacher

AJ began practicing yoga following a bad break-up with ice-hockey. He found it to be an amazing physical experience. Eventually yoga transformed more than just my body: the practice weaved and softened into the fabric of my life. When guiding classes at Havyn, I cultivate moments we can experience growth and support. Let’s see the world in colour!

Derek S.

Teacher

Derek discovered hot yoga as a student in Montreal, seeking relief from winter’s chill and chronic pain from competitive sports. Over time, he found the mind-body connection yoga offers to be transformative. Now at Havyn, through guiding mindful movement, he aims to help students develop this connection, so they can move with more understanding, ease, and resilience. You will often find Derek serenading his class in Savasana with his guitar and elevating their experience with his soothing melodic voice.

Evan H.

Teacher

Evan was first introduced to hot yoga in 2014 when his mother dragged him and his older brother to a Moksha class. It took 2 years for Evan to find his mat again. Once reunited, Evan decided to deepen his practice and find balance through consistent physical asana. When Evan moved from Halifax in 2019 he joined the Energy Exchange program at Modo Yoga East Vancouver and eventually joined the Kitsilano team at Havyn Hot. In 2022, Evan earned his Modo Yoga teaching certificate in Gibsons BC and went on to complete his flow training in Halifax. Evan’s classes are patient and informative. He enjoys teaching engagement cues, active poses and breath informed movement. When Evan is not in class sweating buckets, you can find him hiking local mountains, playing soccer, and hanging out on the beach.

Jonas A.

Teacher

Jonas’ yoga journey began over 30 years ago, sparked by the peace he discovered in savasana. After a decade of martial arts training and a colourful array of life experiences, he returned to Vancouver in 2014 and found a true sense of home at Havyn. Playful and curious by nature, Jonas blends ease and challenge in his classes, creating an uplifting space for students of all levels. He has completed over 400 hours of teacher training, including foundational, flow, yin, and yoga nidra, and has been a dedicated student of Vedic meditation since 2017. Students can expect a soul-soothing practice, with uplifting music and a splash of philosophy to inspire deeper connections between yoga and daily life. Outside the studio, Jonas is an avid surfer, chasing waves around the worldand he loves bringing folks together to delight in his special guacamole!

Kiran N.

Teacher

Kiran is an experienced yoga and fitness teacher with a background in functional and holistic movement practices. Originally from the Fraser Valley, her yoga practice started over 10 years ago, leading to her 200 hour YTT in Greece in 2016 and further education in various disciplines such as yin, meditation, fitness, indoor cycling, and mat pilates. She became a teacher to share the benefits that yoga has had on her physical and mental wellbeing. Kiran strives to create a space inclusive to all abilities and bodies, ensuring students leave supported and empowered by being connected to mind, body, and soul, whether from leading a fiery pilates, power flow, or a calm and grounding hatha or yin class. She can’t wait to sweat with you soon!

Krista H.

Teacher

Krista believes movement, community and breath can change someone’s life. She believes in a practice, where complete strangers can rejoice in sharing space and by being in sync with their breath. She believes that Yoga is the dance of every cell with the muscle of every breath”. Whether it’s immersion in playful movements and dynamic flow, or allowing slow melodic tunes to float you away in a restorative practice, she appreciates the opportunity to offer people respite in their daily lives, even if only for 1 hour of the day.

Leah V.

Teacher

Leah was introduced to yoga as a teenager in 2002 and started teaching in 2006. She’s dedicated her entire adult life to the research and practice of yoga. Her passion lies in the connections cultivated through mind, body, spirit & breath in the meditative aspects of yoga practice. Yoga has been a constant healing force in Leah’s life, and this is where her style derives from. She’ll bring a little lightheartedness, a touch of good humour, and a lot of chill vibes to the table in her classes.

Meltem O.

Teacher

Meltem’s lifetime passion for dance and music makes her classes a playful dance through breath and asana while keeping a strong focus on a safe yet strong practice. She encourages finding more freedom and openness while discovering new perspectives along the way.  Meltem sees yoga as her soul food and  a way of life not merely a physical practice. She adores yoga and practices what she preaches,  you can find her on the mat next to yours any day 🙂

She was certified in Vinyasa Yoga in New York City in 2012  where she also completed her Kids Teacher’s Training. With her arrival to Vancouver, she has completed her 500 Hour Advanced Teacher’s Training at YYoga and 40 hour ‘Vinyasa Immersion’ module at Semperviva Studio with Clara Robert-Oss in Prana flow of Shiva Rea, as well as yin yoga, hot yoga, aerial yoga and Pilates teacher trainings throughout her 12 years of teaching.

She can’t wait to see you on your magic carpets 🙂

Michelle K.

Teacher

Michelle (she/her) stepped into her first hot yoga class at 17 in Edmonton, Alberta, thanks to her mom. She loved the challenge and calm that came from the practice, but most of all she was drawn to the kindness of the community. In 2012, she completed her first Yoga Teacher Training in Brazil and has since trained in Flow, Yin, and Meditation. For the past three years, she has loved working in studios and at Yoga Teacher Trainings supporting teacher’s development. She’s currently studying psychology and will likely arrive at the studio by bike, possibly having dunked in the ocean earlier that day. You can expect her classes to offer a steady rhythm, thoughtful sequencing and an encouraging space to show up as you are.

Stephanie A.

Teacher

Stephanie began practicing yoga in 2012 in the hopes of healing an injury. She was hooked as not only did the injury improve but she also discovered new physical strengths, increased flexibility and the benefits of inner awareness through breath control.   In 2022 she completed a foundational Modo yoga training followed soon after by a vinyasa training.  Stephanie endeavours to bring her love of challenging movement and attention to subtle adjustments combined with loving breath to her students. When not at Havyn, Stephanie can be found at her kids’ multiple sporting events, or up in the air exploring her hobby of aerial silks.

What Students Say About Our Yoga Instructors

Jenna Lehocki
"I started with the trial month at Havyn with no intention of joining for a full membership, but after my trial was up, I did not want to leave. Havyn offers a large variety of classes all throughout the day, from early morning to late evening, making it easy to find a time that fits into my busy schedule. On days where I want to push myself more, I go for hot Pilates or power flow, and on days where I need to move more slowly and prioritize balance, I go for Hatha. I highly recommend Meltem or Natalia’s classes if you want to be pushed to your limits, but all the instructors are lovely and there is something new to learn from everyone. It really depends on what your goals are, and no matter which class you choose, the heat is great for relaxing your muscles and detoxifying your body. The staff make an effort to get to know all their members, meaning Havyn truly feels like a family. ❤️"
Nina Brenna. Kitsilano
"It is rare for me to write a review about a place on here unless I've had a very memorable experience (good or bad). When I say this yoga studio gave me the BEST vibes from any yoga studio in Vancouver, I mean it... The front desks energy literally makes a WORLD of a difference walking into a fitness studio and I felt so welcomed the minute I walked in. The energy from the front desk staff and instructor was so warm and friendly. Honestly, just having that great interaction walking in - along with the nice studio, I was already sold on liking it. Then we did the class. The instructor felt so genuine and kind. I felt like he didn't make the class about him and was so good at letting you do what you needed. Again, I rarely review places, but this yoga studio is a 10/10. I'm 10000% signing up after my experience tonight!"
Bradley Jones
"Great new space - same wonderful instructors. A little bit of zen - I can't say enough good things about the instructors here at Havyn Yoga. I've been going for over 5 years and am impressed with their energy and support. Want something a bit more intense Flow. Classes range from 45 to 75 mins beginners are welcome. Mat rentals and clean change rooms."
